Automations record a sequence of clicks and typing on the page you're using, then replay it on demand. That means acting on another site's page directly, clicking its buttons, typing into its fields, which browsers only let an installed extension do, not a separate website in another tab. That's a browser security boundary, not a missing feature, so this one stays in the Chrome extension.
